Handwriting

The D’Nealian handwriting method is taught in grades K-3.  Manuscript instruction occurs in grades K, 1, and 2.  Cursive instruction begins in the 3rd quarter of 2nd grade. The D’Nealian method lends itself to a very smooth transition from manuscript to cursive writing.  Cursive is expected on all writing assignments from 3rd grade beginning in the 3rd quarter through 5th grade.  Middle school students have a choice of manuscript or cursive for their writing assignments.
